Applicants Who Enroll Must Have:
  1. The understanding that this is a virtual homeschool, and therefore it exists online, but takes place offline.
  2. The understanding that parent is the educator, or the student has the ability to use VHI on his or her own. As a curriculum provider, VHI does no direct teaching of your student (s). However, we will consult with you for no fee (at this time) if you call us (319-354-9465, Central time M-F 10am-5pm).
  3. Use of a standard Internet browser such as Internet Explorer. Internet Explorer does some funky things with our site sometimes; if you find yourself frustrated you may want to consider using FireFox or Opera and Adobe Reader (links to options).
  4. The willingness to read online documents or the ability to print these documents for use offline. Some of these documents are rather large and will take time to download. High speed Internet is recommended. All materials and resources are presented online.
  5. The understanding that Virtual Homeschool International does not provide testing for placement or grade promotion, although we suggest you choose the grade level in which your student last experienced success as a student and promote your student to the next grade level when he or she has either completed the suggested work or no longer finds work at the current grade level challenging.
  6. The understanding that we do not keep homeschooling records for your student(s); however, we do provide forms so that educators may keep their own records.
  7. The understanding that the parent is expected to read the online Handbook for an overview of the school and to answer most of your questions about using the school at the time of enrollment and before you contact us with questions.
  8. The willingness to participate in Polls to improve the academic and product offerings on VHI.
  9. The understanding that users will receive frequent emails and a  newsletter from Virtual Homeschool International about events, changes, and updates in the school. This is a condition of enrollment and VHI must have your valid email address as long as you are enrolled. Refusal of emails from VHI is considered a reason for dis-enrollment. Your email address will never be disclosed to any entity outside of VHI.
  10. A non-spam-blocked email address so that you can receive username and password and frequent emails. VHI will not fill out Earthlink spam forms. Earthlink users using spam blocker with form response mail should use a different email address to receive VHI mail.
  11. Virtual Homeschool International is a community. When you become a member of the VHI community your user-name and community information become public to the VHI community. Postings will show your user-name in forums and other areas will show your user-name. At times other users will have the option of contacting you through the VHI site. Only enrolled students and their parents have access to this information. Your information will not be used for any other purposes and will not be shared with anyone outside of the school as is stated in our privacy policy. Users will not have access to your personal information such as your address or phone number unless you give it to them, or post it somewhere. Forums are viewable by the general public, but you may register for them using an alias if you wish to remain anonymous.
  12. As a user of Virtual Homeschool International you agree to treat as confidential user-names as well as any other information you may encounter about any other enrolled student or parent. VHI is a community; however, it is an exclusive community and even though information is public within the VHI community, it is not to be made public outside of the VHI community. Violation of the confidentiality of VHI users or VHI site is cause for revoking VHI user privileges.
  13. The willingness to report bad or broken links and any misspellings or problems you may find on VHI site pages as you use the school. Links for reporting are provided though out the school site. Think of this as house-keeping for your child's school. At least you don't have to bake cookies for bake sales.

  1. The educator must understand that Virtual Homeschool International does not supply:
  2. Hard copy books and materials. These must be used online, downloaded to your local computer, or printed by the educator or student.
  3. Consumables such as pencils, crayons, or paper to print on.
  4. Daily Lesson Plans; we do provide the materials and resources to cover the topics your student should cover this homeschool year, but students work at their own pace with the oversight of their educator. Daily lesson planning worksheets are provided for the educator to utilize.
  5. VHI does not provide a refund of the "Basic Enrollment," "Premium @@Homeroom@@" or "Graduation Option" fees after your account has been established. Each account is set up for the user by hand. If you are interested in a Custom Premium @@Homeroom@@,. We no longer offer the @@Homeroom@@ option, however users may purchase a Private Pages option and set up their own home rooms (Instructions are included).
